AI Document Types Disappear After a License Change

Why can’t I select my previously trained AI Document Types after changing my license?

Overview

If you’ve recently changed your Umango product key (license), you may notice that previously trained custom AI Document Types no longer appear when creating or editing jobs. This can be confusing, especially if those document types are still visible elsewhere in the interface.

This behavior is expected and relates to how AI Document Types are linked to licensing.

What you might observe

  • Your custom AI Document Types are still visible in the Document Types side menu
  • Existing jobs that use these document types continue to run successfully
  • However, when creating a new job or editing a job, those document types are not available for selection

Why this happens

Custom trained AI Document Types are associated with the product key (license) that was used at the time they were trained.

When you change your license:

  • The system recognizes the new product key as a different licensing context
  • Previously trained document types are not automatically reassigned to the new license
  • As a result, they are not listed as selectable options for new or updated jobs

Does this affect existing jobs?

No.

Any existing jobs that are already using those document types will continue to function normally without interruption.

How to make your document types selectable again

You do not need to recreate your document types from scratch.

To make them available under your new license:

  1. Open the existing AI Document Type
  2. Run the training process again
  3. Once retrained, the document type will be associated with the new product key
  4. It will then appear in the list for selection when creating or editing jobs

Key takeaway

Changing your license does not remove or break your trained AI Document Types. It simply requires them to be retrained under the new license so they can be selected for new configurations.

If you continue to experience issues after retraining, please contact Umango support for further assistance.
